Biography

Dom Pattinson is a contemporary British urban artist known for his provocative, darkly humorous works that bring street-art technique into fine-art territory.

Pattinson graduated with a BA (Hons) from Winchester School of Art and earned an MA from Glasgow School of Art. As a student he lived in the Soviet Union — immersing himself in its propaganda art — and later in Northern Ireland, where he observed the raw, politically charged street murals that would go on to shape his fascination with conflicting emotions like love and hate.

His "inDOMitable" style layers stenciling, spray-paint, collage, printmaking and acrylic into pastel palettes punctuated with bold black contrasts and bursts of colour. Themes draw from teenage strife and emotional turmoil (informed by his daughters and ten years teaching teenagers), often riffing on Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst via recurring motifs of butterflies, skulls and repetition.

Pattinson has held sell-out shows worldwide and counts Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Davina McCall and Liam Gallagher among his collectors. Notable commissions include a mural on the 69th floor of the World Trade Center in New York and work for Ted Baker's 5th Avenue flagship store.
