In *Jul Camera X* (190 x 150 cm), Alex advances a lens-based sensibility into contemporary painting, treating the canvas as a site where perception is edited, cropped, and re-authored. Working at an immersive scale, the artist layers tonal fields and precise, camera-like transitions to evoke the bleed of exposure, the softness of focus, and the subtle distortions of digital capture. The surface reads as both image and object: a constructed “frame” that foregrounds process, materiality, and the politics of looking. In an era shaped by surveillance, screens, and endless image circulation, *Jul Camera X* considers how identity and memory are mediated—inviting viewers to slow down and re-experience seeing as an active, critical act.
