In *Jul Sketches Series 1*, Alex distils the immediacy of drawing into a poised, contemporary statement. Working with a deliberately economical line, the artist allows pressure, tempo, and interruption to remain visible—turning process into subject. Layered marks and spare negative space create a rhythmic architecture across the surface, where suggestion carries more weight than description. The series reads as both observation and editing: fragments of form are held in tension with open ground, inviting the viewer to complete the image through perception. Significant within Alex’s practice, this work foregrounds sketching not as preparatory labour but as a finished language—one that values intuition, restraint, and the intimacy of the hand. Its visual impact lies in its quiet precision and charged, unfinished energy.
