In *Storm Monkey Parliment II*, Mason stages a charged contemporary allegory, using the “parliament” of monkeys as a mirror for human governance, spectacle, and collective behaviour. The work’s dynamic composition and storm-laden atmosphere amplify a sense of volatility, while Mason’s controlled mark-making—layered pigments, tonal contrasts, and crisp linear accents—builds both movement and psychological tension. Balancing satire with gravitas, the artist draws on a long cultural lineage of animal symbolism to question authority, conformity, and the fragility of social order.
