Damien Hirst’s *Covenant* distils the artist’s conceptual rigour into a work that fuses clinical precision with existential charge. Executed with Hirst’s characteristically controlled, high-finish technique—where seriality, surface and material presence carry meaning—the piece stages a contemporary meditation on belief, value and the promises we make to bodies, institutions and one another. *Covenant* extends Hirst’s ongoing interrogation of mortality and faith, invoking the language of science and the aesthetics of luxury to expose the uneasy overlap between devotion and consumption. At once seductive and unsettling, it situates Hirst within a broader cultural moment defined by ritual, spectacle and the commodification of the sacred in late-capitalist life.
Damien Hirst was born in 1965 in Bristol and grew up in Leeds.
