About This Work

In *Doggett Trinity*, Drew distils contemporary portraiture into a poised meditation on identity and perception. The composition’s triadic structure—echoing devotional altarpieces while remaining resolutely modern—creates a rhythmic visual progression, inviting the eye to compare subtle shifts in expression, colour temperature, and mark-making.

Drew’s technique balances precision and abrasion: crisp delineations give way to layered passages where pigment appears scraped, glazed, or reworked, producing a tactile sense of time and revision. This oscillation between control and disruption lends the subject a charged psychological presence.

Visually arresting yet emotionally nuanced, the work speaks to the multiplicity of the self in an image-saturated culture, positioning *Doggett Trinity* as a significant contribution to current dialogues around contemporary figuration and the construction of persona.
