About This Work

Dutch fashion model Apollonia van Ravenstein wearing an ivory Ban-Lon dress by Jane Cattlin standing atop a column at the Crane Beach Hotel in Barbados, photographed for British Vogue, 1973.

About the Artist

Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
