About This Work

Robin Miller and Pippa Diggle smile on the South Street Viaduct beneath Manhattan Bridge as part of a 1960 photoshoot for Go magazine. The couple was one of photographer Norman Parkinson's neighbors in his New York City apartment building.

About the Artist

Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
