Audrey Hepburn is photographed with a baby donkey on location at Villa Rolli, a farmhouse in the Alban Hills of Cecchina, Italy, during the filming of King Vidor’s War and Peace on June 23, 1955. Parkinson’s images were used in the September 1955 issue of British Vogue and as a cover story for the December 1955 edition of Glamour.
Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
