Celia Hammond is photographed by Norman Parkinson wearing goggles and a headdress made of silk chiffon for Queen magazine in 1964. Hammond became a favorite model of Parkinson's and credits the rise of her career to him and his photographs.
About the Artist
Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
