Jean Shrimpton is photographed smoking a cigarette while wearing a Dior dress during a photoshoot for Queen magazine in November of 1963. Shrimpton was an icon of Swinging London and is considered to be one of the world's first supermodels.
Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
