Ava Gardner is photographed in Spain whilst filming her role as Queen Guinevere in the 1953 film Knights of the Round Table. The image would appear later that December in British Vogue.
About the Artist
Sir Norman Parkinson (1913–1990) was a British portrait and fashion photographer whose four-decade career transformed the aesthetic of 20th-century magazine work. Shooting for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Town & Country, he took models out of the studio into landscapes, streets and factories — humanising fashion photography and paving the way for the modern editorial image.
